In a shocking case of animal neglect, DIOZ inspectors received a dying dog from Lillia Różańska, a specialist in obtaining external funds from the Commune Office in Niechlów. The dog was found in a pen placed on the southern part of the property, where it had been left to suffer in the sweltering heat without food or water. The animal was in a state of psychophysical ruin, and the inspectors were appalled at the level of neglect they encountered.

Despite the presence of the owners in the newly built house, they refused to speak with the inspectors, indicating their lack of courage and empathy towards the dying creature. The dog was immediately rushed to the VETKA Veterinary Clinic, where it was diagnosed with anemia, dehydration, fleas, and overgrown claws. However, the most severe issue was a huge splenic tumor in the abdominal cavity, which threatened the dog’s life.

Doctors at the veterinary clinic immediately initiated tests on the dog, including CITO, and decided to operate on the tumor. While the prognosis was cautious, and even bad, the medical team refused to give up and decided to use all available medical procedures, regardless of their cost and effect. The dog, despite being neglected and left to die, demonstrated a great will to live, which further motivated the medical team to do everything in their power to save the animal’s life.

However, the situation became even more appalling when the pseudo-owner of the dog contacted DIOZ. She claimed that the dog was old and had no obligation to treat it. She further informed the inspectors that the dog was to be euthanized on Monday, and the delay in killing the animal was due to the “lack of a car big enough to transport the mongrel.” The level of disregard for the dog’s life was shocking, and the pseudo-owner showed no remorse for the neglect and suffering inflicted on the animal.

The case of the neglected dog from Niechlów highlights the dire need for stricter animal welfare laws and enforcement. The owners who neglected the dog, including Lillia Różańska, who is known for her expertise in obtaining external funds, must face the full force of the law. Neglecting an animal is a criminal offense that can result in up to three years in prison, and it is essential that the perpetrators are held accountable for their actions.

Furthermore, the case underscores the importance of spreading awareness about animal welfare and the consequences of neglect. It is vital to remind people that animals are sentient beings that deserve love, care, and respect. No animal should be subjected to the kind of neglect and suffering that the dog from Niechlów experienced.

As animal lovers and advocates, it is our responsibility to speak out against animal neglect and to demand that stricter laws be implemented to protect these vulnerable creatures. We must continue to support animal welfare organizations, such as DIOZ, in their efforts to rescue and care for animals in need. Let us never forget that we have a duty to protect and care for the animals that share our world with us.
