It was a day like any other when a haunting image came across my phone – a hunting dog in a coma, her fragile body lying on a table, barely breathing. The police had brought Lola to the hospital, urging us to save her if possible, or at least ease her suffering. As an animal lover, I couldn’t turn away from Lola’s plight; I knew I had to do everything in my power to give her a chance at life.

Lola’s story is one that, unfortunately, is all too common. Having been used for hunting for an unknown period, she was ultimately abandoned and struck by a car. Now, she found herself in a sterile hospital environment, surrounded by strangers. Despite the bleak circumstances, Lola was one of the lucky ones. Many other hunting dogs continue to live in squalor, trapped in dismal conditions throughout the country.

In Spain, the treatment of hunting dogs is a unique and horrifying phenomenon. While I’ve witnessed hunters in other countries treating their dogs as cherished family members, the majority of hunting dogs in Spain suffer inhumane conditions. Lola’s battered body and terrified demeanor speak volumes about the life she has led up until this point.

As Lola fought for her life in the hospital, her state of shock was evident. When approached, she would freeze in fear, her mind seemingly escaping to a happier, safer place. The numerous wounds and bruises on her body were a testament to the abuse she had endured. It is heartbreaking to see an innocent creature reduced to such a state.

While some hunters may argue that their dogs are treated like family, Lola’s story reveals the grim reality faced by many hunting dogs in Spain. As animal lovers and advocates, we cannot stand idly by while these defenseless creatures suffer.

Thankfully, Lola’s story doesn’t end here. She is currently receiving treatment in the hospital, with a dedicated team working tirelessly to help her recover physically and emotionally. With each passing day, we grow more confident that we can save Lola and give her the life she deserves.

But we cannot do this alone. We need your help to continue providing Lola with the care she needs. Donations, no matter how small, will make a difference in her recovery and offer her a chance at a better life. If you are interested in adopting Lola or have experience with rescued dogs, please reach out.

Together, we can save Lola and give her the second chance she so desperately needs. Your support can transform her life and the lives of countless other hunting dogs suffering in silence. Please donate and help us continue our mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome these beautiful animals.

Thank you for your compassion and generosity in aiding Lola’s journey to recovery. With your help, we can change the narrative for her and other hunting dogs who deserve to know love, safety, and happiness.
